This is regarding Baby of Soni (937182/109231654236) a 4-day old male baby taking treatment in NICU.The baby is diagnosed as very preterm/VLBW/Respiratory distress syndrome/probable sepsis /pneumonia /NNJ/Feed intolerance. The baby is currently on a ventilator, and he will require 2 months of hospital stay.

The baby was delivered at home at 29 weeks of gestation, weighing 1.3 kg. He was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment; from there the baby was shifted to St John’s Medical College Hospital. On arrival to paediatric emergency the baby was intubated and shifted to NICU for further management.

The family is from Nepal, they have been here in Bangalore for the past one and half years. As none of the family members are here the family don’t have any support. The baby’s father is a security staff and mother is a house maid, they have a monthly income 9,000/-. As the family has financial constraints and lack of social support, they are unable to meet the hospital expenses, currently the hospital bills are taken care of by the owner.

The family is financially exhausted, and they are finding it difficult to continue treatment.

The expected approximate cost for treatment is Rs 3 - 3.5 lakhs and approximate duration of stay will be 2 months.
