Child Vikas foundation our NGO volunteers visit government Schools for primary children’s Yettambadi, Malvali Taluk, Mandya district since 2016 we have conducted various activities like stationery donation, uniform distribution camps, utensils etc.
During one of the Daan Utsav campaigns on 09/10/2021, volunteers observed that majority of the children did not have computer access to technology and internet skills.
As a part of our Daan Utsav campaign, our Organization had organized a mensural hygiene kit and sanitary pad for high schools girls and for village ladies near Yettambadi.
ChallengesInitially, it was a challenging process to change people’s mentality about the myths and taboos related to menstruation and sanitary pads. we have reached a level where people have accepted the fact that menstruation is a natural biological process and they openly talk about it to spread more awareness.
SustainabilityChild Vikas foundation NGO believes the Sanitary Pad Donation campaign cannot be a one-time event as periods happen every month. To add sustainability, we tried to spread awareness through our volunteers so that we could reach out to more people. Thus, making a difference one step at a time.
MilestonesThe first step according to the need of the hour was to procure and provide Sanitary Pads which have been taken care of to date.The next step is to expand the horizon by catering to more places, using biodegradable pads, and waste management.
VisionWe are open to other places as well based on the support received from the people so that we can keep this initiative running on a sustainable basis.
